you got to shake his hand too.... :wub now don't tell me you got to jam with him too I can't be any more green than I currently am, I wasn't even aware he came to NZ until I read a post about it somewhere :angry

Nice new addition by the way. I loaded it up, and forgot it was there, went to browse stuff. Of course that site keeps looping the audio so eventually I heard it and was like ":O what the, who's this pro band playing and why haven't I heard them before" - checked my Winamp, found the audio there was paused, then remembered it was you, really nice compilation, the guitars there were also through Pocket Pod? I really wish I'd bought that now rather than my 707 II, only good thing that offers is recording onto a removable memory card (even though it's an ancient thing, big fat 'Smart Media' card), as well as a setting that makes my guitar sound very close to that of Vai's in "For the Love of God", for everything else even my Cube 30 gives better tone.

So you really don't have to use musical notation to get anywhere? I tried to learn it at one point but found tabs and got lazy, will have to eventually get to learning by ear.

661659 2008-04-28 00:04:00 I have no idea how to read music, its an audible thing so I guess hearing it makes more sense to me then reading it. And nah, I didnt get to jam with PG, that would be way to intimidating lol! rob_on_guitar (4196)

661662 2008-05-05 00:08:00 Thanks Greg, I always liked the mood of the song, so I thought what the hell! rob_on_guitar (4196)
661663 2008-05-05 01:17:00 I think learning to read music saves you heaps time in the long run, with learning rep. But being a classical musician I would say that.

Tabs are pretty useless in conveying anything, just a shadow of the actual song.

661664 2008-05-05 02:11:00 Depends if tabs are done correctly. I still beleive practising by ear or working things out by ear is the most important. As for classical, it is quite a strict medium so i can understand the importance of writing/reading. rob_on_guitar (4196)

Yeah, you are right . It is much easier to tell the timing (and you can even hear/feel the music in your head - to date I have not been able to get a feeling of any music just by looking at tabs) of a piece of music that you've never heard before . Learning by ear should be at the top though, next to musical notation and tablature last . Of course in this new generation we also have software like Guitar Pro which caters for all 3 of these, thats real handy!

That new one was pretty nice too . I like where you take the song nearing the end . Nice progression, good feeling :D With slow songs like this there is a lot more opportunity (or need) for expressing yourself and making it your own . Sounds you done well . Was there maybe a bit much fuzz towards the end when there were a few things mixed together? Could just be my speakers though .

661666 2008-05-05 10:34:00 There was too much gain used, tones were a bit at the high end, the guitars were a little loud, but I think it just added to it. I like chaos sometimes lol rob_on_guitar (4196)
661667 2008-05-06 06:53:00 That was great.
Are you in a band? I would love to hear some of your songs with a full band.
