Ever been pissed of by those flash videos that load ephemeral fla*.tmp files into your temp folder, only to disappear with a poof! when you close the player window??? Now you can grab them by the short and curlies before they go poof! rename them to a .flv extension and copy them somewhere convenient, using a very neat little program called Unlocker (www.softpedia.com) Hi Terry, can you please explain how you use Unlocker to grab/find the flash videos. If not here then another post! Thanks. |

| 660316 | 2008-04-30 10:57:00 | Hi Terry, can you please explain how you use Unlocker to grab/find the flash videos. If not here then another post! Thanks. The temporary flash video files go to Documents and Settings\'User Name'\Local Settings\Temp, and they are given names like fla6.tmp Open this folder so you can see when the temporary file appears which it will do when you start to download a video file. It may pay you to delete as much clutter as you can from here before starting so that you can more easily recognise the temporary file. When the video has finished downloading, do not close the player window, instead right click the temporary file and select 'Unlocker'. In the bottom left hand corner of the Unlocker window is an action box, select 'copy', rename the file to a .flv extension and save it somewhere convenient. You can then close the flash player window. The temporary file will disappear, but you will be left with the 'unlocked' and renamed video file. You will also need to unhide hidden files and folders, or you may not find the Local Settings folder, from My Computer\Tools\Folder Options\View. The Unlocker program is useful in those occasions when you get an access denied message. |

Heh, that's a novel use for Unlocker (ccollomb.free.fr). | 660318 | 2008-05-14 23:28:00 | Well as the thread has slowed down I'll add something #Utilities and bloody useful programs (not really sure exactly the category for this) Freelaunchbar (www.freelaunchbar.com) I really love this as it lets me have Menus on my quick launch bar, which I personally think should be a standard part of windows, (unfortunately it doesn't work on Vista) I normally end up with 3 or 4 menus at the moment i only have the office one (I am on the wifes machine) Screenshot (www.imagef1.net.nz) It is probably the one thing that irritated me about Vista is that this didn't work, as I had forgotten it was an add-on |
