661270 2008-04-22 07:23:00 Greetings folks and non-folks.

Going to be stuck in Wellington with the family for the next couple of days, Budget for activities is zero+cost of a meat pie to share.

So, I'm looking for parks with playground equipment, the bigger the better, and I'm open to any other free to cheap family activities, Distance is no issue.

Lets hear those ideas. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Thanks in advance.

What suburb are you staying in? How old are the kids.

Te Papa.
Cost nothing to go in. There is a Greasy McSlop across the road with a BP cafe too I think.

3.5 years, full of energy, Likes the adventure playgrounds,climbing frames,slides, all the usual. Staying by the oval but Wellington/the hutt is tiny so travelling is no issue.

The other is 6 months old so he won't be fussed.

661275 2008-04-22 08:29:00 Then I recommend avalon park. Loads of play ground area for all ages. sand pits to flying foxes. Duck ponds.
As for your pies, there is a great pie shop in waiwhetu next door to the BP in lower hutt. Real meat pies i think its called.

H2O extreme is in upper hutt if your daring enough to squeeze into your banana hammock. It has good childrens pools, wave pools, and slides, although being school holidays it will be busy as hell.

Whats the oval?

The circus is on as well - not free though, saw Weber Bros Circus - La Jester

when in Wainui - kids loved it ( me big kid) ;) you may also try looking Through here (www.wotzon.com) - may find something of interest.

661279 2008-04-22 09:39:00 Have a look here Metla

You might need these for wet days, not free but might be worth paying if the kids need a distraction.
