| 661035 | 2008-04-22 00:37:00 | I have never had a laptop, but am thinking of getting one. In general with laptops is the sound quality not very good, as they have such small speakers? Also I have just been looking at a Compaq and with the sound turned full volume it was still very quiet and could hardly be heard. It didn't have an output socket for loudspeakers, but is it possible to use the headphones output socket with speakers that have amplifiers? Another question - Do people find it easy to use ones finger rather than a mouse? |

On a general note, I have had 2 laptops now and with my useage of them (only at home!), I wouldnt go back to a desktop. Desktops, dollar for dollar, are a better buy with more boogey per dollar. However, I comfortably edit HD video on my laptop. you can't ask more than that from one. I also have a wireless router and can go outside and sit under a tree and surf the net on hot summer days. They are great! Ken  PS what model Compaq are you looking at that doesn't seem to have a headphone/speaker outlet? |

Touch pads are utter utter ****, KB's attached to the base of the screen is a jerkoff, Audio, video, storage are all lacking, and those damn DVD drive doors.............&*^*&))((*&*^$@#@ and @#$%%%##. Give me a big chair to kick back in, a large screen mounted on a desk and a full size KB in easy reach any day..... |

The speaker isn't excellent but it's better than other laptops that I have used A mouse is nice on any system but I prefer the eraserhead pointing stick to a touchpad, because with a laptop, you can't always get a good surface to put your mouse on. |

| 661043 | 2008-04-22 06:03:00 | Anything with JBL, Harmon Kardon, or Altec Lansing onboard speakers are generally pretty good. If you connect external speakers to the laptop, the quality will be as good as anything else. | wratterus (105) | ||
| 661044 | 2008-04-22 08:48:00 | Generally good in comparison to what? a grazed knee? a bee sting? The speaker on my cell phone is better then the ones in my laptop, and they are branded with Altec Lansing. Quick run down, Are they suitable for... Music?-Hell no Movies?-Hell no gaming?-Hell no Dial up tones-Perfect match. If you have any intention of enjoying audio in any way shape or form, laptop speakers are pointless. I take away a small set of creative speakers when Im away for more then a couple of days, and when I'm at home the laptop stays where it belongs, Under the chair downloading porn. |
