I have 3 windows xp sp3 computers all using usb wireless n adapters to connect to a Linksys WAG160N router. None of them can see each other :( I have tried all the steps at:

but no luck

They can all connect to the internet - one is hosting an HTTP server and is accessible over the internet etc.

What do you mean by "can the router see them"?

Workgroups are the same - I have tried changing them all to a different workgroup name

799469 2009-08-09 01:28:00 im no pro but usually you can see whos connected to the router from within the router. But if they are all on the net then it must be seeing them. is file sharing enabled on all computers? hueybot3000 (3646)
799470 2009-08-09 01:38:00 is file sharing enabled on all computers?

Yup and windows firewall has been disabled to test as well - i'm stumped!

799471 2009-08-09 01:39:00 What happens when you type \\computername manually into the address bar and hit enter. Blam (54)
799472 2009-08-09 01:41:00 Make sure theyre using the same encryption (better than WEP), and have the same password. And different ips Speedy Gonzales (78)
799473 2009-08-09 01:41:00 check 1 more thing - open " My Computer" / Tools/ Folder Options/ view Tab, Scroll down to the bottom, see if you have the option of ticking " use Simple file sharing" This Example here (www.imagef1.net.nz) is via XP virtual mode - but the settings are the same normally.

this applies to XP Pro - by default XP home it is enabled.

Also turn off any security on the wireless then turn them back on once connected.

799474 2009-08-09 01:52:00 OK cheers for that - it sorted when i disabled the wireless security which was orignally set a WPA2 -mixed

I have the options of
WEP
WPA-Personal
WPA2-Personal
WPA2-Mixed
WPA-Enterprise
WPA2-Enterprise
RADIUS

which one (obviously not the last 3) will work?

799475 2009-08-09 01:54:00 maybe just try wpa personal, if the usb sticks are older they may not like the later security hueybot3000 (3646)
