662427 2008-04-25 04:10:00 I have noticed a growing number of companies this year, who are using ANZAC day name in their advertsing, to promote their products. I don't mind this so much, as long as they give at least some of the profits they make from the products they sell, to an ANZAC based charity, however companies I have seen that advertise this way, don't promote that they do this. For example Apple NZs itunes store advertises a special selection of ANZAC day songs, using it as a vehicle to sell more songs. It just makes me not want to buy from them in the future, as it is kind of disrespectful, if they are not giving the profits they are making from the ANZAC name, back to an ANZAC based charity. robbyp (2751)

Don’t you mean profiteering from those people who sacrificed their lives for our country. Maybe it a sign of the changing times, as I never noticed it occurring before with anzac day.

I guess it is a sign of the changing times. I noticed even dells tv ads mentioned anzac day in their advertising on that day. I pressume eventually it will become with Fathers and Mothers Day, and Christmas. with their advertising promotions.

I wouldn't really have a problem with it, if these companies (They tend to be offshore, and not NZ owned companies) actually gave back the profits they made to an ANZAC charity.

662432 2008-04-27 07:42:00 At the shopping complex I work in, pretty much all the stores were advertising some kind of Anzac weekend special, including ours. Was alot more 'successful' than last year, doesn't seem like the customers found anything to complain about. As far as I've heard, none in the complex have even considered donating to any Anzac charities, however most of the staff I know have made their contributions out of their own pockets.

Have you been gone for some time robby? Unfortunately, it is already the same and has been for Fathers/Mothers day + Christmas, even Easter.
