800303 2009-08-12 05:49:00 Windows XP with 648mb ram freezes with new USB DVD writer plugged in. Works fine when DVD drive is plugged in after machine has already started. Prompts to press DEL to enter setup but machine won't budge 'Frozen'
Bios doesn't seem to have any settings for USB drives only mice and keyboard. Any ideas greatfully accepted.

800304 2009-08-12 05:57:00 Make sure the hard drive is the first option to boot from in the BIOS, perhaps check for a BIOS update, a newer version might be bit nicer with USB devices. wratterus (105)
800305 2009-08-12 08:39:00 Following Wrat's advice and set HD to first in the boot order.

If possible, disable the 2nd, 3rd and 4th boot device, or just leave HD first.
