How many of you actually think that raising a child on your own, without the comfort and knowledge that their partner is there, without the security of having someone there to help them do one of what I consider to be the most important jobs in the world, did that to themselves . . . . pffffftt . Don't judge "them" until you know what that situation is like . Do you honestly think that a women who mistakenly got pregnant has the choice to be a single mum? Do you honestly think the choice to give away your child or abort that child is an easy one to do . Would you, if in that situation, rather give your child away or abort them rather than get the help offered to you by the government because some people out there have decided to judge you and your life . Or would you rather have your child and send it off to day care the moment you are able, in order to work and pay for childcare costs and be one of the many who can now complain about the DPB and all the bludgers and delight in the fact that you are not ONE OF THEM . . . . . . . DPB for 1 child . . . . $263 . 78 per week If I had to live off that amount of money per week I would indeed be in poverty . My rent is well over the $200 mark and I live in a flat not in the CBD . But I guess that would be my own fault and no way should I expect help from others who are more fortunate . . . . Just bloody lucky that I don't have to rely on those who decided to judge I guess . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This one case is indeed interesting but what I find more interesting is that people in this forum have included ALL if not MOST single mothers in their comments . Costly mistake then isn't it . Condom = $1 (or free) DPB for 16 years at $263 . 78 = $220,000 (not allowing for annual increases) Why taxpayers should pay for a mistake of this magnitude is beyond me . Stupid women like the ones you are referring to should really keep their legs closed . . . . Another thing . Nobody is making these people stay in cities and pay $200 odd bucks a week in rent . Theres plenty of low rent places in small towns all over NZ . . . . For the record, i really dont mind watching these people rot away in their "poverty sticken" lives . I could pluck numerous quotes out of the air but I'll go with "you made your bed now lie in it" :banana :clap :punk yay for not being a burden on society or poor excuse for a Human . woop woop Veale |

Why should we as taxpayers, provide them with with a benefit, free health care etc etc etc, then witness them sqander it away on p*ss, fags and god knows what else . Ok what should my brother do? He is on an invalids benefit . He has cerebral palsy and epilepsy and bad eyesight . Very, very bad eyesight . Eventually he'll have no eyesight at all . He has worked in the past . When my father went to work for MAF he got my brother a job there too . Since then no-one will hire him . They take one look and find all sorts of excuses . He does not smoke, he does not drink, he doesn't own a car, he doesn't waste money at all . His budget is extremely tight however . Yes there are bludgers out there but be careful before you lump everyone into that category . Some people haven't got a lot of options . |

But I'm not OK paying for some promiscuous mother with 5+ children or even couples with 8+ children, especially if they still buy alcohol and/or cigarettes. 100 condoms cost much less than a frikin baby. |

Your brother is the very person that no one on here begrudges help from we tax payers,we are talking the many bludgers who pervade our society. |
