| 663015 | 2008-04-27 08:08:00 | The question is if I am already with kiwisaver .. can I go with another? Or am I locked with kiwisaver forever? ... The other is State Sector Retirement Savings Scheme. I don't need the answer now but would be interested. Does kiwisaver lock you in forever ... or can you let it go without any deposits .. and just use a diff one ...... The reason is that with the kiwisaver's 1040 (govt top up) and the 1% for this year employer's top up ... its the same as SSRSS - that one if you pop 3% in they give you 3% too.... |

The other is State Sector Retirement Savings Scheme . I don't need the answer now but would be interested . Does kiwisaver lock you in forever . . . or can you let it go without any deposits . . and just use a diff one . . . . . . The reason is that with the kiwisaver's 1040 (govt top up) and the 1% for this year employer's top up . . . its the same as SSRSS - that one if you pop 3% in they give you 3% too . . . . Although they say 'spread your risk', I think you can only have one 'Kiwisaver' scheme . I don't think you can get out of kiwisaver once you are locked in, however you can go on a contribution holiday . This is one reason I don't think adults should be signing their babies up to it, as once they are signed up, they can't then get out of it . It the kiwisaver provider goes under, you can potentially lose your contributions, which is why I would like to see scheme that spreads the risk across multiple providers . |
