| 800372 | 2009-08-12 09:58:00 | Hi all, Have an old Acer Travelmate 240 with XP Home that I'm overhauling; have just installed SP3 and IE8, and I can't get into any microsoft sites by the look of things - all other sites seem to be working, and there's nothing in the blocked sites list. Any ideas? |

| 800375 | 2009-08-12 10:19:00 | Download and run Dial -A-Fix (www.softpedia.com) - used that many times to fix windows updates as well as a few other odds and ends - tick the lot. ( just click the double green arrows down the bottom) Sometimes I have found windows updates wont run after installing XP SP3 - it screws something- dial a fix usually fixes it. |

| 800376 | 2009-08-12 10:24:00 | Thanks guys - will try the LSP fix now . Lappie hasn't actually been used for about 5 years (now THAT'S a story to share over a beer! :D) and neither Spybot or Malwarebytes turned up anything, so I'm pretty sure it's clean . Back soon . . . . . And yep, that's what is was alright - although neither Trojan Remover or LSPFix detected a problem - WinsockxpFix did the trick! Cheers!!!! |

| 800377 | 2009-08-12 10:29:00 | I know trojans / worms can stuff windowsupdate up. I removed a worm and ntos.exe (a password stealer) from my sisters PC in oz last week with teamviewer. As soon as I removed this the shield appeared on the taskbar. It had never been updated from what I could see. I dont know how long this trojan had been on her system | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
