800132 2009-08-11 07:47:00 I downloaded supposedly free RegCare. Now, every time I start up computer, a window appears asking me to register the program. According to NetGuide, this would be $US30. There is no free version. It now appears in my all programs and has an uninstall icon which when clicked on says that special permission must be obtained. Does anyone know how I can get rid of it? 800133 2009-08-11 07:53:00 From my sig, download Malwarebytes ( free version), Spybot - run them ( full scan mode for Malwarebytes) - its more than likely a fake program - full of spyware - that will only harm your Computer.

be VERY careful what Reg programs you "play with" many will do more harm than good - ask here first just to be safe.

Also download Revo Uninstaller (www.revouninstaller.com) - the portable version will do - run it, and see if it shows up the program - if it does, click it / Uninstall - select Advanced mode, delete every thing it finds.

Same for the Antispyware programs - remove every thing they find.

800134 2009-08-11 07:55:00 You should check google BEFORE you install crap software like this

Is it regcure or regcare? See if something like malwarebytes can remove it

Follow all the instructions in WT's post then get a proper registry cleaner such as CCleaner

800136 2009-08-12 01:30:00 As noted above, CCleaner for reg cleaning. Though I have used other free reg cleaners, I have found when running immediately some of them again, sometimes the same files/fragments (for reg cleaning) are displayed again. Perhaps this indicates that such files really don't need removing - and I recall someone referring to some reg cleaners as bloatware. But CCleaner, I think displays only what should be cleaned or fixed... kahawai chaser (3545)
