| 801733 | 2009-08-17 01:14:00 | I have tried to install a 56k external modemDSE USB 56k data Fax modem on friends new computer, but when i plug cable into wall the connection goes dead. Can anyone help please what am I doing wrong Thanks:thanks |

| 801734 | 2009-08-17 01:33:00 | Did the PC auto detect and install the USB drivers - or did it come with a CD. Also check on the connections - most have line & phone - make sure the internet is connected to the line. How do you know the connection is going dead - what indicates this ?? |

| 801735 | 2009-08-17 01:50:00 | First thanks for prompt reply I installed drivers from disc I checked the phone line with phones as I tried to ring xtra for help The computer is a Acer CPU bought from harvey Norman last weekend on special. The persons old computer had an internal 56 modem installed but was very od so upgraded to new computer with XP installed on it. The case is to smaill to install internal Thanks for your help |

Just because the drivers have been installed, doesnt mean it'll work straight after Go into the modem app in control panel then configure it. Some modems need changing to the right country for it to work (and if you dont configure them properly). You could be dialling somewhere else. And you wont know it, till you get a bill |
