801089 2009-08-14 14:07:00 You could probably use something like the one on their site (www.telstraclear.co.nz) altho that may not be the cheapest or the best. But it does have LAN and wireless. Depends on how much you want to spend Speedy Gonzales (78)
801090 2009-08-14 14:12:00 You can either get an all in one ADSL2+ Router/Modem to replace your current one, or plug in a Router to your existing modem via WAN port.

The latter is harder to setup and you will also need to deal with a double NAT, which is an absolute PITA so I would avoid it unless your modem supports Half Bridging.

As for the former, go for brands such as Asus, TP-Link and Linksy

I bought a WL-600g a few weeks ago but discovered that it would not work properly with my ISP's DNS servers. Its pretty much in new condition with the box and even the two filters+misc. cables and manual. You can have it for $90 if you want it. Offers 2 USB ports which you can plug a printer or an external HD/flash drive that you an use for FTP file sharing.

According to pricespy the cheapest price in NZ is $140:

Visit any of the links on PriceSpy for more specs.

If you are in Auckland I can assist you in setting it up.

801092 2009-08-14 14:14:00 WTF mate the guy just told me on the phone they dont support wireless bcoz of security reasons!! What happened is they were supposed to replace my telecom connection with theirs, I come home from work and they replaced it with the motorola modem which obvously only supports one ip.

I rang them up and said "hey we;ve got more than 1 computer hear mate"

"WE dont support that" was the answer and you should call a "Dial a Geek"

madness

Cheers for that anyway speedy

Problem is the telecom WAN port is RJ11 not RJ45

Problem with that is Teltra uses coax cable not Ethernet with is terminated to a BNZ connector, I cant find any modem /router that support a coax feed

They may have meant wireless internet, not a wireless modem/router? Altho how exactly can they stop you from using wireless. If its coz of security reasons, its your prob not theirs!

So, its cable then not ADSL?
