663790 2008-04-29 09:03:00 here's a letter i sent to them :

Hi:

Amid the price increase starting this month, why has sky's startup plan shown so little inflexibility compared .............

Regards,

So little inflexibility = flexible

Scouse : Yes you can use the sky dish for the freeview. Just plug it in.

I am not sure how that is going to work. Sky must have spent money putting those dishes up and now I am using it for Freeview.

663792 2008-04-29 11:11:00 Sky are putting their prices up because they know so many people are hooked to watching mindless drivel and will front up with the money.

Perhaps with the cost of living rapidly going up, Sky will be one of the first 'luxuries' that will go out the window in the months/years to come.

Perhaps then they'll be forced to lower their prices or offer more flexibility/better content etc to increase their target market.

663793 2008-04-29 11:18:00 I was looking at a sky book just the other day, I could not believe not only how expensive the packages were, How crap the packages were, But how crap the comntent of the channels were.

Madness.

Perhaps they think they have signed up everyone silly enough to pay for the trash, and are now just intent on squeezing more money from their existing customer base.

Either way, their product sucks balls.

663795 2008-04-29 20:50:00 I get Sky through Telstra Clear, can't recall how much it costs.

I figured it was cheaper watching the Football and League at home, rather than down at the pubs.

663796 2008-04-29 22:58:00 Sky is a huge waste of money in my opinion. I like discovery, but that's it (sometimes it's unencrypted on UHF). If I had about $70 for a tv card I'd be watching all the UHF channels for free. ubergeek85 (131)

663798 2008-04-30 21:15:00 Sky is a huge waste of money in my opinion . I like discovery, but that's it (sometimes it's unencrypted on UHF) . If I had about $70 for a tv card I'd be watching all the UHF channels for free .

Can only agree . What a waste, not only of money but time, as well .

I do have a TV card with which I can watch the UHF channels . Not exactly a great investment, but it is only a one off payment so that's not too bad . I watch the occasional Discovery programme but it has pointed out to me that there is very little that interests me on Sky .

Any time I have spent with my brother who has Sky has not made me envious .

Why not rent what you want to watch? Or do something else? Hopefully watching the box is not your only form of interest or entertainment .

And I'm not too certain that the lower socio-economic people will get rid of Sky just because it is becoming too expensive . I have noticed that grog, cigarettes and Sky are, in many cases, the last to go . I used to work in a shop next door to Work and Income and it was very obvious that all three were regarded, by many, as necessities . :horrified :illogical
