When the Tootsie-Kana goes, Peel an apple with your toes; Buy a sausage; paint it red - Tootsie-Kana falls down dead. - The late (and great) Spike Milligna - the well known typing error. Americans who travel abroad for the first time are often shocked to discover that, despite all the progress that has been made in the last 30 years, many foreign people still speak in foreign languages If that is the case why would anyone speak anything else but their curious brand of English? One should not be surprised . Most Americans, I'm certain, think that America is the world . Case in point: Why do they host the World Series but not invite the rest of the world?:waughh: "It will never be possible for any length of time for any group of the American people, either by reason of wealth or learning or inheritance or economic power, to retain any mandate, any permanent authority to arrogate to itself the political control of American public life . " Franklin Roosevelt, Address, June, 1936 . |
