664031 2008-04-30 20:31:00 Ah Joe - that uke story is hilatious!

By the way, how cold does it get there in your part of the US? Here in Auckland we get to a rare 5C, but that's quite uncommon. Mid-winter perhaps an average of 12C. Mid summer averages around 24C. This place has a great climate - the only drawback is that it can be very changeable with little notice of rain.

Once a season gets started, the temps and weather are usually pretty stable .

Yesterday (Apr 29th) we had about 102 . 3ºF/ 39 . 06ºC, slight breezes from the East (deserts) and sunshine .

Today it's 65 . 0ºF / 18 . 33ºC, stiff breezes from the West (Pacific Ocean), threatening to rain and overcast .

Typically we can get to below freezing (Universal value here) and lots of rain and sometimes some snow at even our elevation (1500 feet / 457 . 2 M) and during our Winter (Your Summer) .

Our Summers can get to 120ºF / 48 . 9ºC during extreme temps, no rain at all for months and maybe some "Santana Winds" during the Summer (Your Winter) .

June is our "Gloom Month" (not much sun), but temps can be all over the place . . . usually SOME fog in the AM, clearing up by Noon and the nights become temperate (for us anyway) .

November thru March is our rainy season . Some years we can get 100 inches / 254 . 00 cm of rain . . but that is becoming rare-er nowadays .

Most likely we will get about 40 inches / 101 . 6 cm of rain during the whole season . . although this passed season brought us a fair amount of rain . It has caused a LOT of weeds to grow, not to mention the accompanying allergens and pollen, and we will likely get some terrific fires this "Burn Season" . . . which has already started for some strange reason .

Most other months are pretty dry as a high desert area should be .

Closer to the Coast, the climate is more like the Mediterranean region and the fruits and crops are also pretty much alike .

We had Santana Winds last week . . strange, kinda . . for this time of the year, but not unheard of for us .

Rain MIGHT happen tonight on the West-facing slopes and some MIGHT dump on us . . . but then again, maybe not .

The meteorologists all make lots of mistakes with our frequent "Cut-Off Lows" and "Stationary Highs" We get the famous "Catalina Eddy" (colder/damp weather) and the Off-Shore Flo(w) (hotter, dry weather) " . . to capitalize on two common names . They visit often and make the weather pattern unpredictable .

Today we have a visit from Eddie, and tomorrow his sister (Flo) might return to visit .

Who really knows?

That's why my sinuses are all messed up and I frequent my deathbed for a few days when they change their dry-wet pattern . Rumors of my death during these times are not far from exaggeration .

I am getting better today . . but just wait a day or two and I'll be back down with an attack from the weather swing to the opposite direction .

I like the offshore winds and the dry temps the best . NO smog and clear hot sunshine!
