2008-05-02 09:19:00 | I have not bought a phone thru a parallel importer, but I have bought two camera's from E Town Digital and very pleased so far. Why not include Telecom and other outlets in the poll ? I would buy an upmarket phone from a parallel importer to save doh, but bought my low end Motorola through Noel Leaning. What does locking mean ?

2008-05-02 09:29:00 | Locking is that you cannot swap a simcard because the telecommunication company has locked the phone so it can be used with only that company ie., Vodafone. In larger places if you had Voda, Orange, British Telecom. It means if you bought Voda .. you cannot use Orange simcard, nor can you take overseas and buy a prepaid temp simcard on travel.

2008-05-03 02:56:00 | I always buy parallel imported phones. They are normally cheaper than buying from Vodafone, I hate Vodafone branding and parallel importers generally have a far greater selection of phones to choose from. | maccrazy (6741) | |
2008-05-04 08:36:00 | The markup on phones sold by Vodafone is far too much for me to consider buying from them. | sal (67) | |
2008-05-05 14:56:00 | Is it possible to buy Telecom NZ style phones from overseas and come back and ask Telecom to connect to it  I'm sure Telecom brought a batch of mobiles from t-mobile from the USA (they had slightly different model numbers); I guess they were adapted to the Telecom Network in NZ. It's a question if they would (or could) do so for private imported phones...
