664596 2008-05-01 06:21:00 Reported in the paper today that Judge Tony Adeane, today, has jailed 7 repeat drunk drivers for periods of 4 to 8 months!!!

His reason... "To protect the public"

He jailed 5 in one day last month as well

Good on you Judge. You have my support on your decisions.

664599 2008-05-02 01:15:00 The Judicial Oath:

"I, [full name], swear that I will well and truly serve Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Her heirs and successors, according to law, in the office of [ ]; and I will do right to all manner of people after the laws and usages of New Zealand without fear or favour, affection or ill will. So help me God."

Pretty simple really. Was he true to his oath, I wonder...? No ill will? Wasn't just having a bad day?

Not a bad day. Judge Adeane has a certain way with the idiots and scum of our society who say f**k the law.

He is much appreciated here in Hawkes Bay.

664603 2008-05-02 10:36:00 Many Years ago there was a Magistrate who sat on the Hamilton Bench
Stuart Hardy SM - He was feared by Drink Drivers
Come in front of Stuart Hardy for Drink Driving - only one penalty - Gaol -
The only thing that varied was the length of the term, and it was this that depended on the circumstances.
There was one prominent business man who was due to go in front of Stuart Hardy for DIC, and he appealed the case being heard by Hardy - Hardy was stood down and another magistrate heard his case - Punishment Gaol and the maximum that could be dealt out for the offense. (An excellent message in that decision)
Judge Adeane is obviously a man of the same mold - what a pity they are not all of this mind - it would sort NZ society out for the better.

Never expect reason full stop. And certainly not on an internet forum.

Assertions aplenty. And insults. But not reason.
