663706 2008-04-28 22:58:00 They would have tied Neddy Seagoon to it to act as a foghorn.

663708 2008-04-29 01:23:00 Ooops, we are showing our age!!

I used to listen to it on my crystal set on Sunday nights - if my memory is correct? Then talk about it at school on Mondays.

663710 2008-04-29 04:48:00 "...no global positioning system device had been attached to the bomb". Why bother with expensive toys that might not work. Instead, they painted an "X" on the side of the ship where they left left it, so they could find the spot again quite easily... :D johcar (6283)
663711 2008-04-29 05:03:00 A GPS receiver is unlikely to work under water. Even clouds affect the signal strength and position uncertainty. A bit pointless attaching one to the bomb, anyway. They'd have to find it to read it.

A rope with a buoy attached would have been my (low technology) postition indicator of choice. They probably had an accurate GPS location of where they left the bomb, but it moved.

The boat moves, therefore this is not a practical method.

When boat fishing, I have always marked good fishing spots with a cross on the water.

Much better

At least that way no one else can find your spot. With the mark on the boat, it's there for all to see.
