801254 2009-08-15 04:58:00 Other than the STOP error code does it have something such as UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME or something similar?

Do you have an XP CD handy?

801255 2009-08-15 05:22:00 I personally havent seen the error, it was writen down by someone else when it stayed on the screen a bit longer. Now just flashes very briefly now before rebooting. Aparently it has done this before but after a couple of reboots would come right.
Yes I have a XP CD at hand, but don't want to go down that road before saving data from the Hard Drive. Just thought someone may have come across this & could point me in the right direction.

Have a look at the link in Speedy's post.

If that is the problem, then just boot from your XP disk and do a chkdsk. This is a common error that is easily fixable.

Have you disabled automatic restart?

801258 2009-08-15 06:07:00 Thanks guys.
I'm just backing up some of the data before I do that.
Is it more likely to be that than a failing PSU?
Is there any way I can freeze that error message to get a better look at it?

801260 2009-08-15 08:49:00 Great, I spent 2 hrs taking ownership of the personal data so I could save it.
Put the Hard Drive back in, hit the go button, disabled auto restart but instead of a bsod it did a scandisc, found & fixed heaps of errors & then booted up.
At this stage I'm not sure if the problem is fixed or not. I'll do a few more cold boots & see how it goes.

801262 2009-08-16 03:29:00 Sounds like a plan.
Created a new admin user profile as the other one is a bit dodgy.
Just going through & tidying up now. Seems to be going ok.
