Apple and Nokia are both licensing haptic touch technologies from Immersion Corp to give that "feedback" sensation from the iPhone keypad. www.electronista.com |

| 666516 | 2008-05-07 07:50:00 | feedback sensation? haptic touch? What sort of a tosser gets excited by this rubbish? Feed back from virtual keys in place of an actual keypad. The reason the iPhone doesn't have a key pad is to maximise the screen space and keep the device as simple as possible but still allow for data input when required. As most people are used to typing on actual keys so the concept of having no feedback when keys are tapped or touched can be off putting to some people which is why haptic touch is introduced to solve that little issue. Industrial design combined with UI design. |

| 666518 | 2008-05-07 08:19:00 | I have used a ipod touch about a dozen times. Not very good at all for typing on for web addresses. This might have something to do with my big fingers. | plod (107) | ||

Either that or the fact that it does take a bit of time to get used to the concept after typing on a standard keyboard which is where the haptic touch comes into play. | 666520 | 2008-05-07 10:08:00 | The iPhone and iPod Touch which is so very similar, are so easy to use! They have a simple UI and a clean design, finger marks are not a problem (unless you eat fatty food with your fingers in which case you might like to explore a better diet) unless you tilt it (the iphone or ipod). As for fat fingers... well, i feel sorry for you if this hinders your typing ability but I doubt it, the touch screen is quite accurate. The iPhone is a cool device and I find it fun to use. If you don't like it, woop de freakin do, move on? |
