666837 2008-05-07 13:00:00 Well, yesterday everywhere but the PF1 clock (@12:08) R2x1 (4628)
666838 2008-05-07 19:14:00 God its ugly now! who needs spammers when you have all those adverts!! lol rob_on_guitar (4196)
666839 2008-05-07 20:10:00 My view (www.imagef1.net.nz) of the ads is just that they're placed differently. Greg (193)
666840 2008-05-07 20:53:00 I can see how Bletch's script is done in Opera, how is it done in Firefox?

My View is the same as Greg's

666841 2008-05-07 21:23:00 In firefox you'll need to install the stylish plugin (or another user styles plugin) and apply it using that.

In opera, right-click the page>>edit site preferences>>display>>my style sheet and browse to the css file.

666842 2008-05-07 23:15:00 Wow, installed Stylish (which I hadn't heard of before), pasted your stuff Bletch, and WOW... Thanks a lot - that is much better than Adblock. There are still a couple of greyed out boxes left behind, but...! :) John H (8)
666843 2008-05-07 23:34:00 ...How about adding mag subscribers to a usergroup that doesn't have to battle with advertising. ....

Now there is a very worthy suggestion. One which, because it contains so much common sense, will be totally ignored.

Very easy to do - include PF1 username in subscription details, link subscription DB to PF1, change some logic in the page server. Voila!

All they lack is the will, sal. Because there is no increase to the bottom line for them if they do that.

LOL, trust me, I'd love to do this, there is no lack of will and I don't worry overly about the company's bottom line.

Our DB's aren't exactly user friendly or easily integrable. As for our servers, if you look at them the wrong way they will break down.

I'm not ignoring these suggestions at all, and I'm always pursuing whatever means i can to make PF1 the best possible experience for you guys, but because we are a business (gasp!) there are things that happen way, WAY above my head that i have no control over.

I'd love nothing more than an Ad-free magazine and an ad-free website, but unfortunately that's not how it works.
