666493 2008-05-06 11:36:00 Hopefully battery is going to last at least a day of moderate use on the 3G iPhone as this is generally considered why it didn't make it in first time around. sal (67)
666494 2008-05-06 11:37:00 Thats why every kitchen now only needs a Swiss army knife.

I don't know a single person who uses a GPS who would even consider using their phone instead for the task.

Its a gimmick, and Nokia already have one on the market

I have a mate with a GPS in his car, he insists turning it on to go from work to home. I sure he like's the voice:D

666497 2008-05-06 12:53:00 Yeah, that's how it works with any mobile, handset price near a grand or on a 2 year plan its' only half the price cos they'll be ripping you a new one over the contract's period.

I rather buy a mobile with no plans .

Although the vodafone website doesn't really indicate how much you save if your in a 2 year contract

If you add up the costs of buying it assuming your on contract + 2 year contract.

Its still cheaper overseas.

666498 2008-05-06 12:55:00 Because if they don't adjust (drop) their data usage charges they are going to miss out on a whole lot of $$$. Surfing Google maps may not be a "huge" deal in Wanganui ( its pretty small) but in somewhere like Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, London, NY - you want to find that bar, pub or your friends flat - you search on Google maps and 20 seconds later - bingo. All that surfing costs an excessive amount at the moment.

The rumoured changes about the 3G iPhone sound pretty interesting too. Also the iPhone Apps store should be up and running after the WWDC in June with loads of 3rd party apps available and more coming.

Tell me about it.I've been surfing for a few days on my mobile and i already spent $20

666499 2008-05-06 12:59:00 I don't understand why the iphone is so popular.Touch screen has been release for other mobiles long before iphone was release?

I personally find the symbian OS more powerful than the Iphone OS.

Just more application and games for the symbian...

I used a W960i touch screen for a week and i really got sick of it.The handwriting was inaccurate.I wrote hello it gave me the word many.I wrote egg and it gave me the word wasn't

Maybe the Iphone has better handwritten recognition.I personally haven't seen a good touch screen mobile yet.

Hmm..Guess I better use my dad's O2 atom mobile for a minute and see if his handwritten recognition works

666500 2008-05-06 13:32:00 Im with beeswax34 ;)

And yeah, you can add FTouchFlo to a lot (All / any?) Windows Mobile device (Perhaps only WM6+) these days which gives you the "finger functionality" if you like greasy finger prints all over your screen.

So Im down at the pub recently, dude pulls one out trying to "Wow" people with his amazingly cool new technology, he's using one he imported and unlocked himself, thinking he was the man trying to get online and check the weather with it.
I poke my head outside, "Looks like a clear night, I'd guess rain tomorrow possibly later in the day"

2 minutes later he finally gets to the metservice website and pretty much quotes what I just told him, only it cost him $7 for just under 1MB of GPRS data charges :p

He's not on a data plan...

He's had it a while now, still no games, still no real idea what to do with it aside from txt and call and listen to music like any $400 phone these days does...

Poor soul :D

No official hand writing recognition other than for Mandarin. There are some recent 3rd party hacks though.
