665183 2008-05-03 13:31:00 Good to see some people are exercising their minds in these later posts, and not just following media and political scaremongering and propaganda like so many sheep.
Particularly apposite (www.thefreedictionary.com) is johcars sig.

665184 2008-05-03 14:09:00 It's great to know that people have been worrying unnecessarily and that it is all actually ok and that 6 billion human beings are not altering the normal fluctuations of climate and we all should just carry on with business as usual. zqwerty (97)
665185 2008-05-03 21:01:00 Dead right. That is the problem, there are too many of us on earth.

I say (and have said on here before) the only way to stop growing pollution and warming and use of resources is to bring in mandatory sterilization of ALL females world wide once they have had one child.

Do this for twenty or thirty years and it would start to make a big drop in the world's population which is what we need.

Sounds drastic I know, but this is what is needed.

Sad. Just suppose that you were the NEXT child..and that you are the one who WASN'T born!

I wonder if your island-mentality is showing here. :crying

Bear with me a moment and don't pull the trigger yet.

In society (as it is so well stated by "they" or "them" or "experts") there are norms, deviations and peaks/valleys in assumptions and scientific algorithms..etc...etc.

What's missing here is the fact that no-one can say that the world would be better off with fewer individuals and at the same time attempt to cite that they personally are exempt from the purge that you proffer. Emphasis on: EXEMPTION, CONSIDERATION THEREOF.

I say...and take this please very tongue-in-cheek...that YOU should volunteer to off yourself..and like it or not.... it will HELP....but only minuscule-y at the best. (I like making adverbs outta adjectives)

Now...and I am sure that you are misunderstanding my rhetoric here...but let's not sterilize anyone...just NO MORE SEX EXCEPT FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES.

OK..that said, I feel that there's more than sufficient land mass and food production for everyone to live and prosper...but somehow...JUST SOMEHOW the food does not get to the persons who need it most.

Make that the same with medical supplies, doctors, education and of course (ya knew this was coming!)...serious consideration of/to divinity.

Maybe we should concentrate on promulgating bee-health and hive protection from disease and pollination corruption first.

SIDEBAR WARNING!!!

Saturday here: people have signs out all over town (as is usual for a weekend) announcing "YARD SALE" and "GARAGE SALE" but there's a new twist......

Almost every single residence has a yard-full of items to sell now...where it might have been every 20th or 40th home/yard that had things in the past.

Not just nick-naks and fal-de-ral, but real things like cars, trucks, boats, kitchen stoves and refrigerators and freezers and beds and all the things that make a house a home.

It would be nice to know that people are emptying their EXTRA junk...but get this...they are selling their very needed and useful lifestyle accouterments.

By that...I mean they are selling the furniture and appliances right out from underneath them.

NEW cars, trucks, refrigerators/freezers..some in the payment books yet and articles toujours dans le modèle.

665188 2008-05-04 04:12:00 SurferJoe46, with respect, your respond to this issue like oil company's (and your own government). Blur it over with as much misinformation and drivel as you can.

As a American you appear to worry far more about you economy than the actual planet you live on, its even more sad your own government is seemingly controlled by corporate America, and taking action over global warming is bad for "current" business.

Your country needs to returning to democracy some time soon for all of our sakes. As the emerging next superpower maybe China will take the lead on global warming, but by then it may be far to late.

I can't see how you can think that about me . . . as most other posters here know . . . . I am pretty much cold to politics . . . unless I can set fire to someone or something .

It's not the economy that I talk about . . . it's about what the economy portends for which I was soapboxing .

I bore no witness (that's a pun for the insiders) to the oil companies being good . . . and I too see the badness in their actions . I don't really care if they go broke or make windfall profits . . . it's all moot anyway .

You (and I) are gonna suffer at the hands of them, as that is their intention . . . . . for whatever mental gymnastics they are using as motivation .

<Can you say: "Tri-Lateral Commission"?>

What you don't understand is that I don't see anything in the form of a country lead by men who have no true regard for life and the sanctity thereof as ever becoming morally acceptable, benevolent and capable of problem-solving .

So many corrupt people have worked their way into the doors of whatever hallowed ground and edifices that people hold dear that now the foxes are all in the chicken house and we the chickens are all bleached, meatless bones .

No . . . returning the US to democracy or swinging all the way to Communism or even stopping at Socialism cannot delay what's about to happen . PS: The US never was a real Democracy anyway . It was a Federalist Republic .

People are in a survival mode right now . . . imagine how bad they'll become when they are hungry and have the weapons and attitude to feed themselves and their families at your expense .

Try driving in almost any city/state/country and see how many people threaten you with death just for getting in their way . That's a precursor to the next scene .

For the very first time in the history of the US . . . the food stores are not filled to the top and some of the shelves are starting to become low of certain products . It may be that the trucks are late (fuel?) or the product is no longer made (out of business?) or the raw goods (corn or corn-fed farm animals?) to make the product are getting scarce .

You can try to blame the shortfall of food production to the global heating/chilling . . . but it doesn't hold water . . . not yet anyway .

Get this: 35% of the US corn production is going to motor fuel .

I say don't worry about the global heat or lack of it in the Arctic or the Sahara . . . buy a few hundred pounds of dry beans, rice and wheat flour and don't tell any of your neighbors of your larder .

They'll kill you for food soon . Your life means absolutely nothing to a starving person with a gun .

By-The-By: global warming is real . . . cyclical or not . . it's real . . but I do not believe that man has much hand in it or can cause as much damage as you are seeing every day .
