667031 2008-05-08 03:09:00 Not offended, and it doesn't bother me. It's just that I get tired of seeing people poo-poo things because they think they're better than them. It just seemed like you were trying to show some sort of moral superiority for not being interested in ads, which is just ridiculous.

Anyway. No need to grovel, and you can say what you like, but if you get cold receptions because of it then don't say you weren't forewarned.

I have never thought, or expressed, that I am superior to anyone. I think that the opposite is the case.

No moral superiority at all. I just can't be bothered with ads. The only advantage in having ads on radio or tv is that it makes the programmes free to air. That does not mean that it is compulsory that I should be interested and that I should listen or watch them. I'm not interested at all. Too bad if that opinion gets a "cold reception," as you put it.

Must admit that I do not understand why you would think that it is "ridiculous" that I am completely disinterested in ads. Ads are a turnoff!:yuck:

667032 2008-05-08 03:39:00 Ok, I'll take that. In the interests of not having a bitter arguement about something that I'll admit is fairly pointless (with me having brought it up, admittedly).

So... old songs anyone? How come national bank is the only place that seems to use classical music too? It's weird. Mind you, you'd still have to pay royalties to the orchestras and soloists, so moneys still an issue.

667033 2008-05-08 03:57:00 Started off bad , similar to the sounds made when trying to kill a cat with a claw hammer, Then plummeted once the singing cranked up.

 I can trust you know this by experience.

Yeah, that's fine. Let's just agree to disagree. Pistols ten paces at dawn does seem a trifle silly.:)

Silly, but fun. You know you're a real man once you've taken your life in your hands for something that was probably better to have been shrugged off. lol :D

667036 2008-05-08 09:56:00 Anyone realise how old some of the songs are in TV advertisements? My favourite was when in England in the early '90s - they had an ad on TV for Guiness beer - a real beaut, which featured Louis Armstrong's brilliant song We Have All the Time in the World, sung by him in 1971.

The song hit the Top Ten or, thereabouts after the ad appeared, 30 or so years after it was originally sung, as a direct result of the TV advert.

The irony of it was that, contrasting with the song's title, it was the last song he ever made; he died in the same year.
