665283 2008-09-02 08:31:00 Without doubt the many of the world's problems are caused because there are too many people on earth -
The obvious solution is to drastically reduce the worlds human population as a matter of priority.
Perhaps we should call for volunteers to be eliminated as part of the final solution to the worlds gross over population problem.
Any altruistic volunteers out there prepared to make the supreme sacrifice for the common good.
Should it be like redundancies - insufficient volunteers and, people who contribute the least and will be missed least could be selected.
Death penalty would be a good start.....

But our country has become too PC. So has the entire world in general.

Time for World War 3 perhaps. We would have to ensure that some in our present government should be in the front lines as a matter of course. After all they know what iis best for the people.

As to global warming I tend to think that warming and cooling just happen.

665285 2008-09-02 10:30:00 The globe is warming. Air conditioner sales keep increasing, so we must all be getting hotter. (Except for the thermometers and the people.) R2x1 (4628)
665286 2008-09-02 11:13:00 Arctic becomes an island as ice melts:

www.telegraph.co.uk

If they can't get the first sentence right, then what hope is there for the rest of the article? The first line states : "The North Pole has become an island for the first time in human history as climate change has made it possible to circumnavigate the Arctic ice cap." It then goes on to say : "the first simultaneous opening of the routes since the beginning of the last Ice Age 125,000 years ago."

It is well known that human history can be traced back for 2.5 to 3 million plus years. This is considerably more than 125,000 years. So the Arctic was an island during human history. Oh dear.

This reminds me of the various media representatives describing the Beijing Olympics as "NZ's most successful". Based on what criteria? Surely they can't be talking about the number of medals because we won more at LA, Seoul and Barcelona. Nor could they be talking about gold medals - we won more at LA and have won an equal number of golds at plenty of other Olympic meetings.

You can't believe everything you read or hear from the media - same goes for global warming.

665287 2008-09-02 20:11:00 Well that is great news . :banana

At last we are getting rid of all that wasteful frozen water . :clap

Who knows, it may even reveal fertile arable land and we’ll be able to farm it and feed the starving millions .

Even better, I do hope it has large oil and mineral reserves that we can burn off and warm the bottom of the world as well .

However, those responsible for all the hysteria, say that we are only likely to get a 1 . 7 degree rise in temperature, but I’d prefer 10 at the moment .

I also note that Parliament is excelling with carbon emissions at the moment, must be an election coming up . :clap

And what? Soaring the human population to catastrophically high numbers?

God, 6.6 billion is more than enough. Makes me shudder to think of anymore.

Isn't May typically a month where some of the wildlife population plummets with a bang?

Isn't that when your kiwi hunting season opens?

665290 2008-09-03 03:50:00 Yep - usually the duck and goose population is thinned by mad buggers up at the crack of dawn hiding in swamps from May to June firing steel pellets from 12 and 20 gauge over-and-unders or side-by-sides (semis and pumps are frowned upon - a limit of two shots at a time makes it much more sporting)... johcar (6283)
