665679 2008-05-04 05:14:00 Hi, I bumped onto this ..

stuff.co.nz

Is this what you guys would call an acceptable diet ..

For myself, veges would cost more than meat for myself, meats are shredded, but I would struggle to eat that diet (linked above) myself unless I really had to ... never been a fan of can foods or hamburgers for dinner.

Wheetbix is for breakie which I hardly have time .. lunch is leftovers. But its interesting to see that Wheetbix is more than porridge and that a boiled egg on toast cost more than each them both.

But having said that, in my student days I could buy a small packet of mince and had that for 4 dinners.

665680 2008-05-04 13:55:00 where do you buy your food? most of us go to a supermarket, where most the employees are on or slightly above minimum wage

and they all complain things cost too much

then the govt. goes and raises minimum wage

so the supermarket increases it's prices

and the workers complain again.

it's inflation, compounded with food prices rising globally due to oil (for fertilizer, transport, processing, energy) prices rising, and biofuel crops lessening supply as farmers get more money from biofuel than food so grow that instead (or charge more for their products)

Beef cheek????!!!!!!!!!

He's a bit cheeky suggesting that.

The meal sounds a bit poofy. A bit small too. just imagine coming home from a hard day at work and having that put in front of you. My question would be..."where is the main course?"

Mind you, I am old school as far as eating goes. SWMBO hates taking me out for a meal. Says I am a real embarrassment.
