2009-08-19 03:30:00 | Is the PSU that comes with this case (www.ascent.co.nz) any good? It's for a PC I'm setting up as a WHS server. Needs to power 2 hard drives, an optical drive (maybe) and a M-ATX Asus P5QPL-AM Motherboard. Graphics are onboard.

2009-08-19 03:46:00 | It's nothing special, but it'll do. :punk I think they are thermal master PSUs. The whole case and PSU are so light you've gotta be careful it doesn't float away.

2009-08-19 11:29:00 | Lol use a mini tower case for a server? Haha, I chose a M-ATX rig because (a) parts are cheaper than mid tower size (I'm on a sub-$1000 budget) and (b) I want a reasonably compact server as I don't have alot of space for it :p BTW It works out to about $950 for the whole machine (from Ascent) + software (which I already have from TechNet) Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 (2.6GHz) processor ASUS P5QPL M-ATX Mobo 2GB DDR2-800 RAM WD 1500GB HD Corsair VX550 PSU OR the one that comes with the case ASUS Optical drive Arctic Cooling Alpine Pro 7 CPU cooler OR intel stock one Cooler Master 340 OR Gigabyte GZ-M3 case Opinions? :)

2009-08-19 11:33:00 | Any reason why you got the E5300 over the E5200? And BTW, why do you need the optical drive. You only need it once, or you can install WHS from a USB drive Also, for the PSU I highly recommend the Enermax Tomohawk. Quiet as heck. www.trademe.co.nz Might be some at ascent... Blam

2009-08-19 11:42:00 | Any reason why you got the E5300 over the E5200? No reason, there's 100MHz difference for $2 - may as well get the faster one And BTW, why do you need the optical drive. You only need it once, or you can install WHS from a USB drive I intend to use this to stream media around the house. the optical drive will help so I can copy DVDs I own to my hard disk. Also, for the PSU I highly recommend the Enermax Tomohawk. Quiet as heck. www.trademe.co.nz Is 350W enough?:p I've found my Corsair HX620 to be incredibly quiet too, so I may stick with their PSUs. How many W do you think it'll draw/need?
