1442469 2017-11-23 22:26:00 Have seen and heard many advertisements for Black Friday sales. But why? It's not Black Friday. That happens when the 13th falls on a Friday.

I'm told that Black Friday comes after Thanksgiving in America. So what? We don't have Thanksgiving here in NZ.

Just another example of taking up more Americanisms. Why do we want to do that? Why do we want to adopt American customs?

What's wrong with Kiwi customs? Little NZ is unique. Let's keep New Zealand Kiwi, not American.:(

1442470 2017-11-23 22:46:00 Retailers are the culprits for this one, it's a traditional day for sales in the US and I guess our local retailers thought it was a good Idea. Good luck convincing them not to do it.
I'm a bit anti US customs being adopted here also but I think it's a lost cause.

1442471 2017-11-24 00:15:00 Its simple .
People want sales .
If NZ sellers wont do it, then bargain hunters just look online , US & China . Thats the last thing NZ Retailers want :)
There was 11/11 a week or so back , that was more online 'sales' (more like disappointments, few real bargains)

The hard part is not buying stuff you dont need , just because its cheaper .

I hear Godfreys & Brisco's make have a sale on :banana

1442473 2017-11-24 01:43:00 I used to like sales, but PBtech cured me of that. It took me nearly 20 mins to get to the shelf I wanted to look at last time then I turned around and saw a que the length of the store to get to the counter so I just left. Bugger that.
I avoid boxing day sales for the same reason, life's too short to deal with that carry on. I can afford a few extra $

1442474 2017-11-24 03:26:00 I had a look....pricespys list (boring) and directly on a few sites.
Nothing of interest, nothing that cheap either really.

Some that was pretty cheap was also crap brands.

1442475 2017-11-25 06:46:00 My take on it is if you want to rush out and cheap stuff you are a loser. prefect (6291)
1442476 2017-11-25 06:51:00 There is nothing I wanna or need to get anyway. Crowd or no crowd. I am passed the thing that I just have to buy. I survived pretty well or last month or last year.... Nomad (952)
1442477 2017-11-25 07:18:00 Went to town as needed to get my truck looked at, ended up buying a new jug as ours had died but queues of people just buying up anything that was on sale was huge gary67 (56)
