| 1442420 | 2017-11-23 18:33:00 | Why am I receiving so many emails along these lines?: Vodafone email closure. Please update your email address Your Vodafone email address will no longer work after 30 November. Once you have your new email address, please update your details with ANZ. As I understand it, all emails sent to my Ihug email addresses, will automatically be forwarded to by Gmail account. I have set up the forwarding email with Ihug. Are the many retailers/banks etc just scaremongering? |

| 1442421 | 2017-11-23 18:36:00 | There's no way for the banks etc. to know if forwarding has been set up or not. They're just making sure they can still contact their customers. | pcuser42 (130) | ||

Forwarded? what do you mean by that? What you need to do is change your email address with everyone to the gmail one. You can't have a vodafone email address forwarding mails elsewhere when it ceases to exist. |

You can't have a vodafone email address forwarding mails elsewhere when it ceases to exist. That's actually incorrect. When you sign up with a new email address either gmail, outlook.com or some other you let Vodafone know and and they are still going to forward any emails to the new address. The cut of date is the last day you can notify Vodafone. If you don't tell them then the account will simply stop. Whats the point in setting up forwarding only for a few days or months only to close it off on the 30th November. ??? Their servers will still be operating in the background, just set to forward onto whom ever you have chosen. I have spoken directly with Vodafone and was told that's correct. BUT as I have said to everyone, it will pay to change email to people you want over a period of time, because sooner or later I expect Vodafone to stop the forwarding as well. In one of the FAQ's its gives a good hint as well. How do I change the email address that I get my Vodafone bill sent to? If your Vodafone bill is currently sent to your Vodafone email address, you can set up auto forwarding to make sure this continues. If the auto forwarding stops on the 30th then everyone who gets invoices via email will stop getting them. Reasonably sure Vodafone still want to be paid :) |

They are only doing all this as they couldnt/wouldnt install & maintain modern anti-spam systems :) |

Whats actually quite comical is Microsoft have been marking Vodafones own invoices as Spam ;) The Question I asked Vodafone was this : Once a person has setup auto forwarding, after the 30th November, will the auto forward still be working, meaning if someone were to send an email to a vodafone/paradise address say mid December, January will it still be forwarded on ? Answer: Thats correct, after the 30th emails will still be forwarded, as long as the person has notified us by that time. Once the forwarding is active you wont be able to send from your Original (paradise, Vodafone) account. |

| 1442426 | 2017-11-23 21:50:00 | Methinks that tek and 42 are just as confused as a lot of retailers and banks out there :( | Zippity (58) | ||
| 1442427 | 2017-11-23 22:20:00 | Trademe sent a similar email a week or so ago As Wainui said - they are trying to make sure people will still have contact after the 30th PCtek obviously has no clue about the forwarding - I have been with Slingshot for 2 months now, after around 12 years with Ihug which then became VF after the buyout I am receiving all my forwarded emails no problem (yes you still get them even if you close your VF accounts) As was said, this wont be forever, so would pay to get all VF email addresses updated as soon as you can. VF have stated they will give 3 months notice in the event of cancelling forwarding. |

| 1442428 | 2017-11-23 23:47:00 | Methinks that tek and 42 are just as confused as a lot of retailers and banks out there :( So explain how a business not connected to Vodafone is supposed to know if a Vodafone email address is being forwarded or not, without asking everyone? That's my point. | pcuser42 (130) | ||
| 1442429 | 2017-11-24 00:00:00 | So explain how a business not connected to Vodafone is supposed to know if a Vodafone email address is being forwarded or not, without asking everyone? That's my point . Simple, The sender doesn't need to know . If the business that has the Vodafone account has created a new email address, and notified Vodafone by the email that was sent out, anyone sending emails to the old Vodafone email, even AFTER 30th november, it will be automatically forwarded to the New one . What a LOT of people think is as of the 1st December all email will stop if you have a Vodafone account, IT WONT as long as you have provided them with the forwarding address . Just like now, if a person has already changed it will carry on working . What it means is if a person Doesn't contact Vodafone by 30th November THEN it will stop . Its the same old story, MANY people are getting the wrong end of the message and forming their own opinions as to whats going to happen . People are getting all upset because their stationary etc has the Vodafone email address -- SO WHAT !! carry on using it, when it's time to get new stationary then change the details . Its not really that hard to figure out . THATS WHY I contacted Vodafone and asked, and got the answer as posted above . #6 Don't second guess, ask the source if unsure and get the right answer . If the business has a domain name with Vodafone that is going to be taken care of by another provider We will not close any personalised domain emails . These will be transitioned to a more reliable and secure provider more details will be communicated soon . An article from stuff: What will happen to my emails after November 30? You will still be able to get emails that are sent to you old Vodafone address but to do that, you will need to set up a new email account with a different provider assuming you don't already have one . Vodafone has promised to automatically forward emails that are sent to your closed account to your new email address as long as you remain a customer of theirs, with a simple form to fill in to make this happen . In theory you won't need to tell any of your utilities or relatives you have a new email address, as emails sent to your old address should still arrive in your new inbox . But remember Vodafone is closing down its email service because it was getting increasingly poor, so it may not be a good idea to rely on this forwarding service and delay advising people of your new address forever . |
