2017-11-02 22:28:00 | Ok about a fortnight ago we upgraded our fibre......... from the 200 speed one to Gigantic..... unlimited, fastest speed cheaper price. Please dont shoot me on this one as I am only the middle beetle messenger and its out of my zone as I dont xbox. we have multiple Xbox one's in this house, amoung other things. and since then we have had issues with not being able to connect to games - party games especially - those multiple player games who need to connect.. some games the boys say work fine and connect. we spent a long time on the phone today trying to fix this issues..... with Orcon...... who we talked to numerous people but alas they think it is not their issue....they cut us off on the phone multiple times and we had to go to cell phone because when the phone is down so is the interenet when we reboot the fritzbox. we got told to contact microsoft .............surely we are not the only one who has had this issue? we are in contact with microsoft lol this may take a while :( Fritzbox modem, Xbox one, Orcon internet provider. Key points. Any sugestions? Thanks

If they're wireless, I would give them static ip addresses (you change it in the network settings on the Xbox) One reason they cant connect - ip conflicts. Another it can be harder if you're using a separate router and modem. Sometimes you have to put the ports Xbox live uses (if you're having probs playing online) into the modem. So they'll work Another option. Enable DMZ in the modem's settings. |

2017-11-02 23:55:00 | The UPNP means Universal Plug and Play so other devices can find one another. Most modern routers have it enabled by default. dmz is different to upnp To long to explain here, but if you google what is DMZ and what is upnp theres several articles that explain it.

2017-11-03 00:17:00 | UPNP is often used so that devices can open ports for themselves without you having to manually do it. Normally it's as easy as logging into the router and enabling it. That way the Xbox can tell the router what port it wants to use. You may need to talk to Orcon to find out how to log into th erouter though. I only know Spark uses Admin, Admin as user name and password but I have no Idea if other ISPs do the same. DMZ basically forwards all ports to and from an IP address or range of addresses, it's risky as it allows easy access in both directions and leaves those devices wide open to the internet. It removes whatever protection the router might have provided and acts like the device is connected directly to the internet. An old security trick is to set a DMZ to an IP address you don't use so anyone trying to hack into your network ends up trying to communicate with a non existent device.

2017-11-03 00:20:00 | its a case of he says she says at the moment and they are all saying we can do something our end to fix it, but its not working at all..................... tempers are a bit stretched.......... so we added a option of xbox one (1 box) to share but nope it doesnt work so no point adding more if this one doesnt work. phone boy has been talking to so called higher up more knowledgeable peeps at orcon, but nobody seems to be able to help him. he just wants to play online, multiplayer and have a mic running. but no thats not possible..... Thank you

2017-11-03 00:34:00 | I'd be more temped to follow microsofts suggestions than the trained monkeys at Orcon ( as you are going round and round) log into the Fritzbox -- Found the following instructions to enable UPNP ( or at least check ) en.avm.de Word of warning - If settings are not there, DONT FIDDLE or you could lose the internet. Edit: read the opening lines on that site By default, the FRITZ!Box's firewall blocks all incoming connections from the Internet. If you enable the FRITZ!Box's UPnP function, then Internet applications (for example chat software, online games, file-sharing software) can automatically adjust the FRITZ!Box's security settings and set up the necessary port sharing settings by themselves.

2017-11-03 00:41:00 | LOL we have done exactly what microsoft said, and sadly without this port sharing something setting from orcons end its not going to work................. we have been on the phone to both all day so far and currently on this modem its not available so far......... and neither microsoft or orcon can tell us why or what to do to fix this option........ so its a case of sorry cant help you any more, live with it. single player mode for life possibly till we get a new modem or find that magic switch to help us. Phone boy has given up for today before he throws his toys out of the cot basically he said cos nobody really knows what he is saying so cannot give correct advice. :( Yes we have read and re read this, and talked to the people on the phone and still it does not work.......... we have been talked thru how to manually change the settings, but they do not work. we have reset modem as instructed possibly 4 times today, unpluged everything, reset all settings, and done exactly what we were told to do. doesnt work. and the settings are telling us we should be able to. overiding the said settings as instructed dont work either. they dont know how to help us anymore. and we havent fiddled with anything that has not been instructed.

2017-11-03 02:06:00 | Its normally the settings on the Router, not the modem (unless they are blocking for some weird reason) The modem has a single feed coming in and out, the Router then splits off the IP addresses / Options etc. Think of it like a normal Power Multi box - 1 plug into the wall, but 4-6-8 devices ( depending on how many socket it is) can be plugged in. One way to test is to remove the Original Router and put in another to see if the problem replicates.(but obviously you need more equipment to do this). That's how I fault find at customers houses, ( before ringing the ISP) :) first eliminate everything on site then you can confirm for sure with the ISP that the problem is at their end. Does the Router have a network Map display ?? Meaning on mine you can go in and see all the network devices that are connected. if it does, are all the devices actually showing. Just a thought as well-- the Xboxes -- They aren't set to the old router still are they (static addresses) could be the same problem as the printer. :2cents:
