1441391 2017-10-30 22:42:00 So My trusty pc with windows 7 was doing a bit of a clean up, and ran ccleaner, and possibly malwarebytes?
and I think it did a sort of defrage.
I have windows updates turned off.

and it decided to close browser and reboot.
trys to install up dates. keeps getting from bot up to please wait installing updates screen, and just sits there forever.
I tried rebooting it and going into safe mode and it just pops into reboot mode and I cant get past it.
Ive unplugged the net cable and turned it off for now, cos watching it with the circle of no life running is not helpful to the stress levels.

Is there a possible way i can get past this or reboot to a different screen to go back in time and see the normal again and not re do any cleans...
I also suspect I have no current anti virus or such like on it except from windows security essentials or whatever its called.

No I dont belive I have a current back up.
Im not sure when it last updated windiws updates, but it shouldnt of been able to?

help please.

where do I start........... not sure if I have a windows disk or not......
I found my trusty laptop which I resureected to get back online..

Im at a loss at what went wrong or where to start and its way beyond my knowledge level.
I was in the process of gearing up to clean it out and back up everything and then this happened.

I know all the names under the sun for my stupidity and knowing its too late,

its been a horendous few weeks for me and pc, internet, printers or cars, so its not helping.
If I am unable to fix it myself, $$$ are very short but I need the pc to be going for continued work possiblitys.

Thanks

1441392 2017-10-30 23:08:00 sometimes unplugging from the internet (& no wifi) will actually get you passed this issue : worth a try

or
restart it it, keep pressing F8 : to get to the safe mode/repair options page
click repair your computor (1st option) : see if theres a system restore option
worth a try but this may not work , (just tried it on my working 7 laptop and the "repair my computor" just gives an error )

1441393 2017-10-30 23:12:00 When I do that it goes to what boot option or sata something...

Id just be hapy for it to miis a step and get to welcome desktop screen lol and ddo a system restore...but i dont think that dream will work

going into safe mode does not give me that screen or those options......... it just does a load windows screen - lists of whats loading and then back to start up install blue screen etc

If you can't get into Windows in Safe Mode then you might have to just let it update.

If you can get in then:

yourbusiness.azcentral.com

Let it do the update otherwise, then remove them if you don't want them in there.
Then disable updates.

1441395 2017-10-30 23:26:00 But it just sits on this screen forever...........how long is an acceptable time to wait for it to do this before panicking ? it doesnt seem to be interested in moving on from this installing updates screen beetle (243)
1441396 2017-10-30 23:36:00 Usually when updating there looks like nothing is happening but if you look at your Router and if the lights are flickering it's updating and sometimes it goes from 0% to say 5% in one go Lawrence (2987)
1441397 2017-10-30 23:43:00 So i left it.......and its still running............just now says failure configuring. window updates, reverting changes. do not turn off computer beetle (243)
1441398 2017-10-30 23:50:00 So let it get on with it. Times I have tried (some time ago) Win7 can be very slow on most things - maybe a day. Just let it try and revert and see what happens. Bryan (147)
1441399 2017-10-31 01:50:00 Ok It has finally booted up. Ive removed ccleaner............ and tried to do a restore.......... not completing a restore on any dates picked.
I had given up waiting for it to boot this morning..... so went off and got lunch and only noticed it had complete when the screen saver kicked in and caught my eye - movement lol

So will carry on doing a tidy up process do some checks and set a restore date manually just in case.

Thanks all for the help........ still not certain why it did what it did, but my understanding is ccleaner caused it ? some glitch in the new program wanting to have win updates installed ?

Can i set a date for a restore point ?
