| 1441237 | 2017-10-27 21:59:00 | I am shifting house and the new place is connected to fibre with the fibre box being in the kitchen ( I do have a router for that ) but I want to place my Denon receiver which is not wireless but it does have a Lan port and I don't want to run any cables to connect it to the Fibre box for a internet connection, I have a old router a Netgear D6300 and was wondering if I can I put this in the room and use it as a switch so I could plug a cable from the Denon into it, I am also not sure what settings I would have to use for the Netgear if it was compatible with Fibre, help would be appreciated | PeterQ (16315) | ||

Only settings you'd need to change: Ensure the Netgear unit and your router are on the same network. Change the gateway address on the netgear unit to point to your router's address Disable DHCP and the firewall (if applicable) Some routers have bridging mode which "should" do all the above automatically if you set it to bridge mode.. but don't quote me on that best to check and see what suits. Have you considered moving the ONT (Fibre box) out of the kitchen to a more suitable location? A kitchen probably isn't the best place for it any way. You would have to pay Spark/Vodafone to do it for you though but probably less hassle potentially. Cheers, |
