| 1442802 | 2017-12-04 21:58:00 | AND here's another nail in Skys Coffin. stuff-pix-enters-movie-market-striking-several-deals-with-hollywood-studios (www.stuff.co.nz) looks interesting, but... "Stuff Pix gets access to movies at what would previously have been the stage in their cycle at which they were released on DVD typically three to four months after they first screen in cinemas. " its still based on the old, broken model thats no longer relevant. (its not stuffpix's fault) Want to stop piracy, then make movies available for streaming straight away, NOT 3 months later . The old cycle of release to theaters , then DVD, then TV & streaming services just wont cut it any longer . Is that why DVD rental is a dying industry ?, people just dont want to rent OLD releases . We are more likely to watch them when theres a buzz around a new release. 3-6 months later we've forgotten or dont care. So if we dont want to go to picture theaters to see the latest movies, we still have 3,4,6 months. Its 2017, not 1930. Many dont want to go to picture theatres and prefer to watch at home. The old model of staggered releases does nothing to discourage piracy. |

| 1442803 | 2017-12-04 23:00:00 | After many years we cancelled our Sky subscription. For all sorts of reasons, most have been mentioned in this thread. The main reason really came down to Sky having absolutely loyalty towards their customers. They're not the only business to be on the slippery, sliding slope for much the same reason. I know they are in business, hopefully, to make a profit but I don't think things have changed that much since my old commerce studies days. Human nature, being what it is, none of us like being a cash cow or being held to ransom for the same purpose. I still like watching a movie at the theatre. |

| 1442804 | 2017-12-05 00:58:00 | Maybe I'm an anomaly but despite all the streaming and yes some piracy that I have done to watch movies I go to the movies more often these days not less. I love movies and I have a really good set up at home with a 70" screen and 5.1 surround but it's still just not the same. I still buy Blu-rays too but only when they are <$20 So when someone who is a movie & TV lover willing to buy movies and go to the theatre can't be bothered with sky you know it's a broken model. I've rented movies through the Google play store and the MS store as well. When I want to watch something I really don't mid paying - within reason. |

Sjy should have changed to a pick n mix option years ago. Too late. Cant wait to see them disappear up their CEO's arse. But Rugby coverage will suffer. |

Where's the edit button when you need it? The main reason really came down to Sky having absolutely NO loyalty towards their customers. |
