2017-11-28 04:58:00 | I quit cold turkey from smoking 50 - 70 tailormades a day in 1986. Started at 11 and smoked for 33 years. Hardest thing I ever did in my life. Hang in there Greg, it's worth it! Ken:)

2017-11-28 08:11:00 | I don't know, maybe because the Dr. said I would be dead in 5 years if I didn't. Or, that I had taken up photography and wanted a new camera and I to set up a colour darkroom which cost $plenty.50 in those days :) Ken 🤔

2017-11-28 18:29:00 | Good effort Greg. When I can suss out this vaping thing I'm doing the same - hopefully over Xmas. Though I couldn't give up coffee as well - a bridge too far. I'm with Zippity on the solution - I gave up for 6-7 years about 15 years ago and learnt the only 'assistance' to make it easier was non-existant. It was crap - just gotta ride it out.

2017-11-28 23:29:00 | Yep. Cold turkey is really the only way. After a month Greg you are really past the worst and are now in fact a non-smoker. Any 'aids' you are using will only slow the process of allowing the body systems to adjust to your new normal. Go for it and good luck. You will never go back. | Richard (739) | |
2017-11-29 04:29:00 | Just my little bit of experience - whilst it seems contra-indicative, coffee seems to aid the main forms of alleviation such as panadol or panadeine. How much they aid stronger meds, am not sure, but guess positively. Not much help, I guess. | Misty (368) | |
2017-11-29 21:21:00 | A couple of things for the headaches: check you aren't getting a bit dehydrated, a few glasses of water through the day and at least one through the night. If you have a sinus thing going on too put a couple of drops of something like Olbas Oil in a bowl of hot water and breath in the vapor. Well done on giving up smoking, I went cold turkey a long time ago, so difficult but so worth it. | bellbird (6169) | |
2017-11-29 23:06:00 | Husband has smoked for 59 years. The doctor story, my aunts second husband, he gave up after a similar time, HIS doc said don't, the stress will kill you. It did, he died 4 weeks later.... Anyway, it;s a head thing, it has to happen there first, otherwise it's a fail usually. had a friend who decided not to one night. She smoked like a train, and just stopped. Others on the other hand, it's a struggle, thats why it needs to happen in your mid first and nagging and punishments (like tax) does not work!@
