1442077 2017-11-16 19:37:00 Did you try the suggestion I posted?
Works with my RTL based USB adapter
(a different chip-set and the file is a different one, but also from github and in the same format)

I'm working on it - I'll be a few minutes yet on your suggestion, yet.

BUT - Wait! I already have an RTL-based driver for the ALPHA, and it won't work with the WSKY RTL chip.

1442078 2017-11-16 19:40:00 AND.....

How come there's no UPDATE MANAGER in Ubuntu?

I see the Ubuntu Software (manager?) on the sidebar -

1442079 2017-11-16 19:42:00 Criminy! Now I'm running an OS Update!

Gackkk! Seems to happen when I'm having a lot

1442080 2017-11-16 19:58:00 BUT - Wait! I already have an RTL-based driver for the ALPHA, and it won't work with the WSKY RTL chip.

That's right, each different RTL chipset has its own master file, but the process is the same
I should point out that all this is needed because it's a USB adapter
the PCI-E ones are usually detected and already have drivers in the Linux kernel.
Also: you will need to do this after each and every kernel version update

1442081 2017-11-16 20:16:00 On the page of the first site you link Joe click on clone or download
Download the zip file
Unzip it with archive manager
OK here's where the wheels fall off . . . . . . .

open the folder
right click inside it then open in terminal

Where do I right click? All I get is a list, that I cannot - for some stu-u-u-pid reason - C & P here . . . . . . but it's got 21 lines in it .

Is there one significant line to click upon?

I'll then continue with your next instructions . . . .

type in 'make all'
it will take it a minute or two
when it finishes that
type in 'sudo make install' (both commands without the 's of course)
it will ask for password
when it finishes that reboot and your adapter will work, hopefully

Ur-g-g-gh!

I need food. Protein, really! And caffeine. Lots of caffeine. :badpc:

1442083 2017-11-16 20:31:00 If you right click in the folder window away from the items in it so at the bottom, you should see something like the picture I am posting
then click on open terminal here.

1442084 2017-11-16 20:34:00 O I C! You have your files displayed as folders - mine were listed........ let me see if that works better! SurferJoe46 (51)
1442085 2017-11-16 20:55:00 I am not being afforded the opportunity to see these files in folder-form .

Let's see if I can C/P from another site with the sme troubles though:

From what I can tell - even going to the Toolbar, is that they will not render as folders at al, so I cannot see them as you have shown me .

I only get a list that goes from left border to right border and no place to get in between the lines, although they are listed within those borders and are not running around into the next line, if you follow me here .

By now, I have several . zip copies (1), (2), (3), etc - of these files as each time I EXTRACT them, they create another folder .

When opened, it creates that long list over and over as . zip files . .

OK, Dave ---- I tried something new . . . . . let's see if THIS works!

I opened your screenshot again and I noticed that you were on DESKTOP > Dave . . . . . .

So - I tried that and got someplace entirely different .

BRB . Thanks for your patience!!! Really!

Joe that is merely an example done in a Ubuntu studio virtual machine, I don't use Ubuntu I use Mint
But I have the Virtual machine so I can show you what I mean.
The reason they are folders is I was showing you in my Home folder, what you will see in your driver folder will look different.
I have attached what my master driver folder looks like in Mint
