1441258 2017-10-29 03:18:00 Aha! I have successfully installed Linux Studio and I found out a lot about things that were driving me crazy .

Suffice it to say that I found out that a flat screen monitor cannot be used to install Linux based stuff - except for Puppy which runs well, but is somewhat crippled .

Puppy can keep the WiFi hookup running all the time that I actually have Puppy on the screen . . . . but Studio drops that connection after about 4 or 5 minutes of UP time and I cannot get it back unless I shut down and reboot Studio .

And then there's this . . . . . . . . . . . I got banned - well, it says that I refuse to obey forum rules as I was trying to sign in .

That notice jumped up as I was inserting my password . . . . somehow I don't think that's supposed to happen .

I just don't think that's right .

I lost the ability to sign in on my Android tablets and this 'puter with both Puppy and Studio on it .

What's up with that? Am I officially banned now?

Stay well and healthy youse guys . I'll sit here in Rightsideup Land and await the news .

Am I is . . . . or is I isn't? That is the question!

I'd like to go back to SurferJoe, as this Gmail account is one of my secret aliases .

1441259 2017-10-29 04:15:00 Ubuntu based Linux has driver issues with some wi-fi chipsets. With me I googled the specific adapter I was having trouble with, something like "Linux issues TP-Link WNxxxx" and found some instructions to replace the standard driver and blacklist it so it wouldn't get reinstalled. Took a few trys but I got it sorted eventually. You may have a similar issue. Wi-Fi dropped off constantly and the connection speed was slow compared to what I got with the replacement driver. dugimodo (138)

1441262 2017-10-30 22:59:00 You should download the wireless information script.

In terminal:
wget raw.githubusercontent.com
chmod +x wireless-info
./wireless-info

Try it on Puppy and UbuntuStudio and post both results here, unfortunately today I'll be too busy to go over the results but you will be comparing differences.

If I may suggest IRC has faster and more realtime support for being helped with these issues and WiFi is a common issue.

1441263 2017-10-31 02:21:00 As far as your flat screen monitor issue goes Joe.
Is it a monitor? The only time I've had any issues with flat screens and Linux
has been with TVs that have non-standard resolutions.
