| 667663 | 2008-05-09 10:47:00 | Car insurance sucks, you insure it and pay based on what you think it's worth but only get paid on what it's actually worth - then you get to argue with the insurance company who think it's worth less than half what you think and have been paying for. No win situation really ... unless you insure it for fixed value, at a higher premium. I don't 'do' cars or bikes thank god. |

| 667664 | 2008-05-10 04:28:00 | I don't know of 1 insurance company who will pay out more than an item is worth, although most will happily accept a premium based on an inflated value. If you have doubts about the cover when taking out a new policy ask the broker or agent for clarification in writing. If they make a false representation you then have some comeback. Insurance companies are in business to make money, and frequently the contract is very one sided, and the risks covered and exclusions are often inadequately explained. |

As far as premium goes sure they will take more if you are prepared to pay more - do some homework to see what you should pay. You always have clarification in writing of what you are and aren't covered for, it's called a policy wording. The wording is the basis on which you and the insurance company agree on. You sign the proposal to say that you've read and accept the terms of the policy wording, so if you haven't, don't accept the proposal.... If you "never read those things" and sign anyway, then you're your own enemy :) |

| 667666 | 2008-05-10 05:40:00 | I've done a few insurance replacements. Depends on the insurance company. Tower is one of the worst. Some won't pay out much., Most don't care - they know its all moved on since and so long as you don't get carried away and put in a quote for something way more powerful (in equivalent terms) then they just accept it. Laptop or desktop.............. |
