668537 2008-05-12 07:20:00 Hi, I sent a envelope overseas and it was urgent . To Asia .

I rang up DHL and they said deliver by Wed .
I looked up UPS, cheaper and deliver by Wed .
Fedex I checked after I sent it . The online thingy said by Tues 6pm .

I would of assume these 3 big freight companies would be the same  Or is that 2 of them play it safe instead?

I did have a look of the overview of the service by UPS and it says next business day to most asian cities and 2nd business day to main european cities . Is the online time delivery calculator thingy playing it safe? The guy forgot to ask me to sign the label . . but that was fine after I rang them . . and the guy also said it would be delivered tomorrow (Tues) . . . .

NZ Post on the other hand with co-op with DHL only quoted 4-6 business days so I didn't use that .

Any info would be great!

668540 2008-05-12 07:31:00 By the time you wait and get replies from this forum you could have send it by any of the three companies and it would be there by Wednesday, now it will be later:-) Bantu (52)
668541 2008-05-12 07:45:00 I sent it this morning . . . with UPS . :D

I didn't check Fedex before and online it said next day delivery .

I did ring up UPS cos the guy forgot to ask me to sign but that is ok . . but then he said it takes 1 night to delivery .

I would assume UPS, FEDEX and DHL are similar . . are 2 of those playing it safe saying it says the next 2 days and not the next 1 day delivery

668542 2008-05-12 09:39:00 They might all use different hubs in Asia so that could be a factor.

Plus some might use their own services like DHL while the others might contract a local courier service to deliver which could delay the parcel a bit.

668544 2008-05-13 07:24:00 I played around with the online thing . . . and I found that from Wellington it says 2 night to get there . If I was in Auckland it takes 1 night to get there . . . but I would of assume there are so many flights WLG to AKL it wouldn't take an extra night . . . :dogeye:

I know when I get stuff sent from overseas to Wellington, once it gets to AKL it takes a extra night before it finds it way to WLG . I have beenn tracking postal and even if it arrives (cleared via Customs) into AKL in morning or early afternoon it still takes the next morning or next afternoon to get into WLG .
