803481 2009-08-23 01:16:00 Im sure most of you know know that the PS3 Slim is now official...
The price is going to be $629.00 RRP Here in New Zealand.

Although this is a price reduction im still not satisfied.
If i buy it from japan its $469.019 and If i buy it from America its $441.526
There would of course be postage fees.

and now for my question.

If i import it is there any downfalls? such as region locks.
and if so, i know Japan is Asia-pacific and i believe its region 4, This is the same as New Zealand correct?

803482 2009-08-23 01:37:00 Yer, NZ is region 4 Speedy Gonzales (78)
803483 2009-08-23 02:08:00 Only for DVD. For Blu-ray Japan is region A and we are region B. Japan bombs Pearl Harbor and gets rewarded by going into region A. AU and NZ supported the US and get rewarded by being made a part of Europe.. Go figure.. paulw (1826)
803484 2009-08-23 02:19:00 Ok... so if i got a japanese import.... would i be able to play games brought at EB games etc in new zealand and aussie.... ? PCT Joe (15018)
803485 2009-08-23 02:20:00 Ask them before you buy it Speedy Gonzales (78)
803486 2009-08-23 02:25:00 Japan runs a different voltage to us, so you would need an adapter. Whenever I've been in the electronics shops in Japan (and some are huge) I've always ended up not buying anything in the gaming line in case it doesn't work over here. But I'm sure someone on the forum will have done. Grimy (3041)
803487 2009-08-23 02:42:00 Can someone please tell me the different voltages and where i can get a adapter for it? PCT Joe (15018)
803488 2009-08-23 02:46:00 DSE sell a step-down transformer (www.dse.co.nz). NZ uses 230V, Japan/US use 110V. pcuser42 (130)
803489 2009-08-23 06:31:00 Lmao, ends up being the same price as buying one localy. any better ideas? PCT Joe (15018)
