669339 2008-05-14 05:41:00 I'm considering buying one (to replace my old chunky D**L).

What do you think of the 900 compared to the 701? Obviously the screen is better :)

BTW Keyboard size is not an issue I'm quite skinny :p

Am currently thinking of getting the Linux one and loading XP.

669340 2008-05-14 05:49:00 Def get the one with the bigger screen. 1024 across, as opposed to something smaller.

Means no sideways scrolling on web pages.

669341 2008-05-14 05:53:00 From what i've read, it's very good. There have been comments about its battery life though - apparently it is less than 2hrs at best. somebody (208)
669342 2008-05-14 06:03:00 You would have to be into ultra portability to justify such an under performer! Cicero (40)
669343 2008-05-14 06:05:00 No games on the Eee, apart from Solitaire. ;) pcuser42 (130)
669344 2008-05-14 06:09:00 If I were you, I'd wait till the version with the new Intel Atom processor is launched in June.

Also, keep an eye on the "MSI Wind" laptop.

lies! the guys at Uni run Halo, Unreal Tournament (GOTY Edition) etc. Halo lags making it not really that fun to play on there, but seems UT runs fine. It looks much better on the EEE screen (because of the tiny-ness of that screen :P) too.

669347 2008-05-14 22:49:00 Asus have just released the 901, which runs on an atom processor. Lower power consumption, and probably higher clock speeds.

Also, a visual overhaul.

Might take a while to get to NZ though.

669348 2008-05-16 00:24:00 The 901 launches in NZ on the 20th (at DSE at least). ubergeek85 (131)
