804417 2009-08-26 05:42:00 This morning my Desktop showed the date as 23/8/2009 and the time was 2 hours slow. I adjusted both.

I have just now noticed the time has dropped back to 2:12pm. Does this mean that my battery is on its way out?

If so, are the batteries all standard for a Desktop? It's a Gigabyte motherboard.

804418 2009-08-26 05:46:00 Could be the battery or the time in the BIOS is wrong Speedy Gonzales (78)
804419 2009-08-26 05:48:00 Has the computer been switched off at the wall or unplugged for a decent length of time, eg overnight? If so, then yes it is most likely that the battery is on the way out.

CMOS batteries for desktops are the same. Get a new one from the supermarket.

804420 2009-08-26 05:48:00 Battery could be going flat, generally they are standard, cost around $3. wainuitech (129)

804422 2009-08-26 06:12:00 Thanks guys.

One more question, in changing the battery, will I need to "fix" any settings again such as BIOS?

You'll have to reconfigure the settings (inc the time/date etc) in the BIOS then save the settings
