2009-08-25 08:59:00 I just brought a new 1tb Seagate HDD and it has a SATA cable but my motherboard doesnt support it. Would it be better for me to buy a SATA to ide converter or a PCI card with two SATA inputs on it??

2009-08-25 09:03:00 In my opinion it would be best to buy a pci card. Might be better to get it from PB tech in glenfield seeing as you want to go to jaycar it is quite close. nedkelly (9059)
2009-08-25 09:04:00 Do you mean the mobo doesnt have a sata connection. Or the mobo doesnt support SATA 2? Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-08-25 09:09:00 or his mobo just doesnt support sata like he said, ie no sata at all hueybot3000 (3646)
2009-08-25 09:10:00 So whats the point in getting one, if you dont have the connection Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-08-25 09:10:00 Na i don't think so. My motherboard only has the old IDE imputs. My mobo is a 36 ASUS P4S333-M mitchd100 (15190)
2009-08-25 09:12:00 yep so the converter is supposed to allow sata usage? hueybot3000 (3646)
2009-08-25 09:13:00 Yup its only IDE. You'll have to buy a PCI card or a new mobo and everything else Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-08-25 09:14:00 So the converter won't work??? mitchd100 (15190)
2009-08-25 09:15:00 he might mean that he does not have any sata speedy nedkelly (9059)
