| 804058 | 2009-08-25 03:55:00 | I am about to do a clean install of XP on a Dell Dimension desktop. In disk management there are 4 partitions shown, C drive & D drive, which I knew were set up, but there are 2 others. One is a 47 MB FAT (Eisa Configuration), the other is a 4.63 GB FAT32 (Unknown Partition). Are these other partitions neccesary, or can I safely delete them during the install. | MikeBOP (15195) | ||

There maybe a menu on there, to create the restore cd's / dvd/s. BUT if you use / create these, it'll probably recreate the EISA and the other partition. But, if you dont want these, you can delete them. However, you'll have to reactivate it with a new XP cd. And you'll have to re-download the drivers for it, if you want the LAN / sound etc to work (if the drivers are on the Dell site). The Eisa config partition by the looks of it, has something to do with diagnostics. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
