669349 2008-05-16 01:33:00 The 901 launches in NZ on the 20th (at DSE at least).

669350 2008-05-16 01:40:00 Sorry, I'm mistaken. It's the 30th of May, not the 20th. DSE has them on its website already (search.dse.co.nz). And it's the 900, not the 901. Price is $750. ubergeek85 (131)

901 (which has the Atom processor) is supposed to launch sometime June/July.

669352 2008-05-16 02:24:00 Is that the 10-inch model? ubergeek85 (131)

The 9xx and 7xx stood for the screen size.

So it would be the EeePC1000 if it were 10"

 Got me all excited, I went to the DSE site straight away.
Waiting for the HP 2133 thing to come out, so I can compare the price of that to the EEE (hopefully with Atom), but will only really end up with it if price is decent for the SSD version (hopefully won't have to pay extra for Vista or something). I was initially tempted to the EEE not for it's portability (student with a few books, still couldn't care less about saving 1 or 2 kg's) but for its price and performance at that price point. The prices these are all going now, one might as well spend an extra $100~$200 and come out with something with DVD/RW drive, and more storage space. I also read in a review that these 900's will be having much less battery life because they get the weaker battery (stores less charge than the batteries that came with the 701's etc.), hoping by the July/August release that they'll have better battery life and the screens won't get too big as of course this adds to the price and subtracts from the battery life. None the less, these gadgets are getting more and more tempting, I wonder if I can hold out till the 901 :waughh:

669357 2008-05-29 02:33:00 Looks like another round of waiting for a new Eee model, 1000 just got more official here (www.engadget.com). ubergeek85 (131)
669358 2008-05-29 02:43:00 Arms race anyone?

I keep saying "I'll get one when the 10" screen comes", or "when the touch screen comes"...

At this stage I might just wait until it all stabilises and I'll be able to get a 32" sub notebook for $30... with a touch screen.
