804162 2009-08-25 09:15:00 as speedy said, go the pci card. I dont think the adapter will give u actual sata support because the pci card has the sata controller on it hueybot3000 (3646)
804163 2009-08-25 09:16:00 oops thought I hit refresh sorry nedkelly (9059)
804164 2009-08-25 09:16:00 I've figured that out now. After he posted the mobo and I saw that it has no SATA on it Speedy Gonzales (78)
804165 2009-08-25 09:54:00 Get the PCI card. You want to take advantage of the speed increase over IDE! Blam (54)
804166 2009-08-25 14:14:00 I have not tried any SATA to IDE converter but they would work fine.

However, I have doubts about their capabilities, speed and quality.

A real PCI card with SATA controller would be the best option.

Unless someone has the experience or can find a review etc that proves the converter is worthwhile...

You will also find that Jaycar will be expensive for this type of thing, and the card they sell is not SATA 3.0Gb/s speed (which a 1TB HDD will be) (not that it wouldn't work, it would just run slower)
