671049 2008-05-20 07:44:00 Over the pst few weeks I sware that I hear occasionally a steam train whistle on the south line south of Otahuhu. My mother inlaw swares she has heard it and says it's a freight loco with a steam train wistle rather than the normal air horn.

Anyone comment or know..

I believe there is a steam train running around back and forth.
I've heard it a couple of times.

Middlemore actually. And that may account for it. Who's train is it??

671055 2008-05-20 23:01:00 My suggestion would be to call the Glenbrook Vintage Railway. They have an office in Onehunga. You might like to call them on 636 9361. I think they keep office hours.

If you find out, post their reply, please.

He was great. I loved his trick of driving through towns, (hundreds of miles from a railway track) playing his steam train passing by stuff through his tape amp and big speakers. Great stuff!! Used to wake up the natives.
