804604 2009-08-26 21:54:00 I have an Asus P5KPL motherboard to which I have connected an IDE hard drive with Win XP installed. I have also added a Sata Hard drive but can not get the motherboard to recognise it. The motherboard should have auto detected it but didn't. What specific steps do I have to take to achieve recognition please. How do I get it to auto detect. cherithbrook (13759)

Is the SATA drive a known working device?

Do you know the drive and cable are ok?

804608 2009-08-28 04:36:00 Are you using SATA mode or IDE emulation in the BIOS?

Be default XP will not pick up SATA drives unless they are using IDE emulation.
