Kaspersky is outa my realm . . I had it for a while years ago . . but dumped it for a free system . . . after all I am cheap . . . .

SpyBot S&D will kill it as will a lot of other stuff . . . it's not so hard to do . . . but you gotta remember that a lot of malware disables your security stuff . . so you gotta check from time to time . . . and update . . . UPDATE . . . UPDATE

You be running all along, thinking you're safe but you are hacked and spewing all sorts of trash: porno, money laundering or just being zombied for spammers .

Isn't the internet fun? and don't EVEN get me started on Internet Exploder and other things M$ like LiveChat and such . . .

Do you Yahoo? Don't!

672092 2008-05-24 07:06:00 And from Symantec themselves (www.pcmag.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
672093 2008-05-24 07:10:00 He pictures a security suite that doesn't impact system performance at all—even one that makes the computer run faster. And he hopes Norton Internet Security 2009 (www.pcmag.com) will be that suite.

Haha i will belive it when i see it lol XD

672095 2008-05-24 16:13:00 I don't see how cloud-scanning would work . . . after all there's too many variables . . . and to use a WHITE cloud isn't even practical . . . . who'd man the list and keep it relevant to the individual's system?

Scanning is another slow process; the team strives to vastly increase scanning speed by using a huge whitelist of known good programs "in the cloud" . Downloading updated signatures can also cause a periodic performance hit, so they invented a new type of streaming definitions . According to Trollope, they've made well over 300 individual changes specifically to improve performance and filed a number of patents on this new technology .

"We're not there yet," admitted Trollope . "We're still working on it . "

Suppose someone wants to go to someplace new and different . . . it looks like the same ol' problem of toast and warnings would make their product look like ZA .

Nope . . . until they get speeds past double what they have now and with a firm link for updates that are almost instantaneous, then they are all pipe dreaming .

Or maybe, when you bought their high priced system, they'd also include a few extra Gig of RAM for every user .

Here's the catch . . read this between the lines:

Trollope explained that Symantec is in the middle of a three-year push to invent a completely new type of protection against malware .

. . . . it's the money, stupid . . . it's the MONEY!

672097 2008-05-24 22:21:00 I am looking at getting a Internet Security suite - includes Antivirus and Spyware checker and firewall

All in ones, do not give you complete protection.
Avoid Nortons and if you do go with a suite, always, always have some other stand alone antispyware as well.

I'd just get an AV, a firewall and at least 2 antispywares separately.
