671882 2008-05-25 06:17:00 Actually I don't get condensation, anywhere, at all.
And I have nothing under my floorboards. Most rooms have carpet but not all.

I have old wooden window frames with a bit of a gap in one or two.
I do have batts in the ceiling and some walls.

And its warm, thanks.

But I did live in a plastic wrapped house prior, aluminium windows etc etc, it was full of condensation all the time.

Aluminium windows are bad for condensation especially if they don't have vents. The water consenses on the cold aluminium surface.

671883 2008-05-25 06:19:00 Get the Expol guys to install it. We have it under our floors in what used to be an old drafty house. It has made a HUGE difference with heating. Well worth it.

It could be mainly blocking the drafts, rather than doing much actual insulation. If you have drafts in the house you will lose a lot of heat, no matter how much insulation you have.

It would appear to be doing both quite well. :)

671885 2009-02-06 03:27:00 Expol is a great product. Its not just about heating your house, its also about warming your floor for warmer feet, especially if you have bare timber floors.

If you find it hard to install, there are Expol installers to do it for you.
Expol is now also available in all Eastern cities of Australia.

You might ask if I have a connection to Expol. Well I started Expol over 30 years ago, and I have total faith in the product.

With regards to electrical cables, just keep them separated, using the strip of paper supplied in every bag of insulation. Most cabling is strapped above the insulation so it is usually well out of the area of insulating.
The main issue with electrical cable is that the polystyrene leaches out the plasticiser in the flexible cable and over time may make it brittle. Remember, though the cable is perminantly clipped and is not designed to move once in place.

So take my advice, Install Expol, and enjoy the "Warmest Feet in the World".

671887 2009-02-06 22:42:00 Condensation is caused by a vapor barrier
Expol Insulation breathes, and moisture condenses on the cold side, leaving the warm side dry and warm.

If you boil a jug under a piece of Expol insulation, water will condense and drop off.
If you place a puddle of water on the top surface and leave it for a few hours, the water will gradually flow through the micro channels between the polystyrene beads and exit through the bottom, thats if it has'nt evaporated first. Try it....!!

Call this sales promotion if you like, however, I will always challange uninformed people with information that is not correct, and put them right.

Expol products are all appraised by BRANZ, and tested according to AS/NZS test methods.

If any one has a question on Expol Underfloor Insualtion, I am happy to answer them.

What would those with a penchant for bossiness do with there time.

However defence of the truth could hardly be regarded as bossy

I would respond if that lot had a element of truth in it.

You can't just dribble what comes to your mind and expect it to be reasonable.
